  • Powder coat question.

    HI!

I HAVE ONE QUESTION REGARDING POWDER COATING.

when i powder coat a part do i need some type of primer to completey cover the part? and if so is is safe to wet sand the primer to a smooth finish?

like when you paint a car.you fix any damage then primer, wet sand then paint.

    thanks for the help

    no primer

You don't use primer with powder usually, there are exceptions though.
You can use a pretreatment to clean the surface and promote adhesion.
The powder will hide minor blemishes, if it's really rough you can use special fillers made for powder coating. If the surface is really bad go with a textured powder and it will hide an amazing amount of defects but you are left with an even textured surface instead smooth.
