  • Looking for hi-temp filler

I saw some high temp body filler (advertised 450 degrees) for powder coating on eBay. I would like to avoid buying it on eBay. Is there something like this commonly available? I have a beer keg that has been badly beaten, and would like to smooth it out and powder coat it chrome. If you have a brand name, that would help too. I'm in the suburban Chicago area. Thanks!

Lab-Metal is manufactured by Alvin Products http://www.alvinproducts.com

I had a discussion with the technical folks at Bondo/Dynatrol about this yesterday. There seems to be a market for this type product. James said their Dynatron? Metal-Fill will not work for traditional powder coatings. It is a polyester bound aluminum filled materil, good for temperatures up to around 250F

We have also looked at JB Weld.

I checked out their web site, and called a local supplier, and they do indeed have it available. The price is right too. $37 for a 24 oz can of high temp (up to 1000 degrees!) filler. That should more than take care of my needs. Thanks for the tip!

How many ounces to a can? Will it bond well to stainless steel? Thanks!

            Pyro-Putty

We have tried numerous times with stove and muffler putties and cements, with less than desireable results. What are your experiences with this material?
