I have a 6 HP, 150 max PSI, with a 30 gal. tank, compressor that delivers 6.4 cfm at 90 PSI and 8.6 cfm at 40 PSI. Can I use this compressor with a blasting cabinet that requires more cfm at 90 PSI. I have been told that it will work, that I will just have to stop after a while to let it catch up. Stopping doesn't bother me as long as I am getting the same "quality blast". Any help would be appreciated.

yes
Your compressor will work fine it will just need to recover every so often. You can plumb it to another tank to gain more volume but it will also take longer to recover.Use a good quality regulator and adjust your pressure switch to come on a bit sooner if needed.

Re: Air Compressor Capability
you can also see if you can get a smaller diameter orifice for you blast gun, that will cut down the cfm that you need to use and you should blast a 60psi because much higher your blast media breaks down at a faster rate.

I want to get a bigger one because of this. I can blast for a good 10-15 then I have to wait about 10min for the tank to recharge, IT SUCKS!!! If you got the cash sell your's on craigslist and buy big one...EMAIL [email protected]
