  • Problem with oven heating up

I have a Greunburg 8x4x6 electric oven, its a 4 wire (2positive leads/ground/nuetral) 230 volt oven thats requires at least 206 volts to operate correctly. The over is 76.0 amps, its on a 100amp breaker. In my shop there is about 1200amps service plus a 3 phase line if needed.

Tonight I ran into a problem with it getting up to temp. it was only getting up to about 170f in 30mins, usually it would be about 350f by that time. I verfied the fuses, and voltage getting to the oven which was 208vac. Anyone good with ovens have any ideas what could be the problem.

try disconnecting all the elements and ohm them out i would guess that is line voltage was equal and good then one of them might be burning out if you have 2 or more the should all read close to the same ohm rating. if not, if one reads real high it is most likely bad and then wont heat properly.
when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

Just curious but you said you had a 3 phase line. Is it 240 or 480? If it's 240 3 phase why don't you wire your oven off the 3 phase line? You wouldn't have to keep worrying about overloading your main service and would probably drop you electric bill if it is like it is where I am at. I wired the home oven I am using now into a 240 3 phase box from where a lathe use to sit. SS
