  • infrared heating lamps

    Has anyone tried to use a infrared lamp inside a metal insulated box to cure powder coat. Need to build a metal insulated box 32"w x 32"d x 28" tall want to try to used a 1500 watt infrared lamp to try to cure powder inside the box. Will this work. thanks Jay

    yes and no. it will heat the part but the drawback to ir heat is it need to be constantly monitored, and how do you adjust the temp in the box. in most uses of ir lamps the surface temp is controled by moving the lamp closer or farther away. not to say it wont work just some things to consider. best of luck bro. also welcome to the forum.
    when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

      Thanks for the info may try to build the box with in ifrared lamp & control the temp by using a vent in the box
