Thanks to this forum my oven turned out great.2x3x6 with four 2500 watt elements,cabinet is 22 GA with 1" angle iron frame. 2"mineral wool insulation with bottom elements on own switch with removable insulated shelf in middle so only top is heated for smaller stuff.Havn't used it yet which brings me to the point of this thread.
I don't know sh#t about powdercoating.The oven seemed like the hardest part so thats where i started.Can you guys give some advice as for what gun is best,what type of powder is best to work with,and where to find some ideas for a decent booth.Not sure if use type of gun with built in compresser or remote compresser.Gonna be doing mostly recumbent bicycle frames and bike parts.Would like to go with caswell products if possible, since without them and this forum it would have been a much harder job.I'm all ears guys,teach me. 40 veiws and no replies?Thought it would go a little better than that.Maybe if i narrow it down.Does anyone know what the lowest kv gun will do a decent job?I'm doing bicycle frames so will be in a lot of corners and such.The pros i'vs spoken with are saying at least 25 kv or don't bother.All the lower end guns are 16 kv and under.If anyone can help me put here i would much appreciate. i am new to this as well but will pass on what i have found so far. i have read through most of the threads and general concensus is the caswell hobby gun is a very good gun to start with. i have not got mine yet but am going to start with that as soon as i get oven done. good luck

got a post from Caswell and it seems they are going to have a 25-50 kV gun in about twelve weeks.Think thats what i'm gonna put my money on.

LOL!! I'm the opposite of you! I bought all my powder, gun, etc.. And am now contemplating how i'm gonna do the oven part.

Get an aircompressor. If you can afford it, get a big one. I have one that stands 6' tall x 2' diameter, and one time actually ran out of air when I was using air tools, and my buddy was sandblasting like crazy. You'll find yourself using the compressor for alot of things around the house.

Now that you know what gun you want, you can start looking at compressors
